Color commentary for the Vice President’s Cup action provided by one of the competitors:
Howie Meditz ends up holding on to his slim 1-stroke first round margin to win with a pair of gross 88s, perhaps most notable was the reduction of his handicap from 20 in the first round to 16 in the second.
Mitchell Schepps kept the pressure on Meditz, tying Howie’s net 72 for round two, but unable to make up Howie’s two stroke lead from the opening round.
Shantanu Malay had perhaps the most notable round with an opening nine gross 55, puffed up by a crushing 14 on the second hole after losing 4 consecutive tee shots OB. Not to be deterred, Shantanu’s closing nine gross 41 come back let him capture third place in a match of cards over Tom Aberle after Shantanu’s stunning hole out from 120 out on the sixteenth hole for birdie, and his remarkable 40 foot eagle putt on 18.
